The governor of Sokoto state, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal has
said if he had not changed his mind to contest the 2015 Presidential election,
he would have won and become President, rather than Muhammadu Buhari.
He meant to establish that he would have grabbed the ticket
of the APC and then won the 2015 Presidential election, just like President
Buhari if he had contest against former President Jonathan.
Jonathan, many believed lost the 2015 Presidential election
because his government suddenly became unpopular, while Nigerians strongly
clamoured for a change.
Tambuwal, then the House of Representatives Speaker had
bided to contest the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress
(APC), but backed down close to the real contest, opting for the ticket of the
party for Sokoto governorship race.
The governor said it was indeed, his predecessor, Alhaji
Magatakarda Wamakko who mounted pressure on him to back down on his ambition to
become the President of Nigeria.
He said Wamakko told him pointedly not to run against
Muhammadu Buhari on the basis that doing so would lower the chances of APC
winning the presidential election as well as possibly blocking the chances of
Buhari.
He said this recently during a special dinner he organised at the Sheraton Hotel Abuja for Wamakko who is now a Senator
Tambuwal said the intervention by Wamakko had been part of
what made him thick as a politician. He spoke eloquently about Wamakko whom he described as a builder of
resources and men.
Wamakko in his response said his resolve to stop the
presidential ambition of Tambuwal centered on his belief that politics is
indeed, a game of interaction in which case, he said simple dialogue was
required among the contestants in APC for the party to win the Presidential
election.
He said his belief in peace and oneness of Nigeria with the
APC’s preparedness to make changes was part of the reason he made frantic
efforts to ensure that the party won the 2015 Presidential election

Bullshit!
