I’ll protest if you strike again – Okorocha
Governor Rochas Okorocha
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has threatened to protest on the streets of Owerri, the state capital, if workers in the state embark on another strike.
Okorocha also said at a meeting with permanent secretaries, heads of parastatals and labour leaders in Owerri at the weekend that he would not hesitate to reverse the N20,000 minimum wage to N18,000 if strikes continue.
He described the last industrial action as politically motivated, noting that labour leaders disregarded the agreement reached with government.
“Nothing will stop me from going on my own strike if workers embark on strike again”, he warned.
He disclosed that given the recent attitude of workers, he may consider collecting his  N250 million security votes which he had forfeited for free education for the past four years.
On the receipt of the federal government bailout funds, Okorocha said the bailout for pensioners had not yet been received.
He said: “Only the bailout for payment of salaries has been received, the bailout for pensioners has not come yet”.
