Nicki Minaj
said DJ Khaled’s marriage proposal took her by surprise, but that it’s all
keeping with what he’s trying to do with his new record.
In
what has been interpreted as a
publicity stunt for his upcoming album Suffering From Success,
Khaled popped the question to Minaj with a 10 karat ring on MTV late last week.
“I
want to marry you,” he said, holding up the $500,000 ring. “We got the same
symptoms, we’re both suffering from success.”
The
next day, he told Us Weekly that
he was dead serious about the proposal.
“I
want to marry her! I was serious,” he said, adding: “She can take her time and
think about it. At least she knows how I feel now.”
So
is this just a publicity stunt for his new album, or did Nicki Minaj make DJ
Khaled fall for her while they collaborated on “I Wanna Be with You” together?
We
might never know, but Minaj attributes it to
a publicity stunt, at least for now (she hasn’t actually spoken to
Khaled about it).
“I
was shocked just like the rest of the world and I was cracking up laughing with
the rest of the world ’cause Khaled is a master at what he does,” she said.
“It
was just another way for him to kinda give the world a glimpse on the feeling
of this record.”
If
it was a publicity stunt, it definitely seems to have paid off. The two have
been making headlines for weeks, with several (false) reports alleging that
Minaj had even taken out a
restraining order against her love-struck collaborator.
But
hey, protip: If you really do have feelings for her, you might want to keep
them to yourself, Khaled.
“Please
let it go. He was kidding,” Minaj said. “He’s not attracted to me, he doesn’t
like me. We’re brother and sister.”
That’s
worse than friend-zoning. Hell, that’s worse than a restraining order. You’ve
been brother-zoned.
Do
you think that Nicki Minaj and DJ Khaled would make a cute couple?
