Jonathan Was A Sectional President -Sylva

Former governor of Bayelsa state and one of the aspirants seeking the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Timipre Sylva, yesterday described former President Goodluck Jonathan  as a sectional leader who was more of a president for Bayelsa state than for the nation, Nigeria.
Sylva made the comments in reaction to the recent open display of  support for the incumbent governor of Bayelsa State, Sariake Dickson, by the former president and his wife when the governor formally declared his intention to contest the seat again, on Tuesday.

At the event, former president Jonathan and his wife Dame Patience Jonathan  openly endorsed the candidature of Dickson, saying he deserves a second term.
The adoption of Dickson by Jonathan came at a time the party leaders were planning to hold a credible party primary to select the candidate of the party for the election among the about four persons who obtained the nomination form for the contest for the party ticket.
Sylva speaking with newsmen at the APC National secretariat yesterday said the open bias shown by the former president for a particular candidate even in his party when all other candidates still regard him as a father figure is a pointer to the fact that the former president has never been a nationalist.
Sylva was at the party secretariat to attend the  screening exercise put in place by the APC ahead the governorship primaries in Bayelsa state.
A total of 19 aspirants obtained forms and attended the screening exercise ahead the primary election.
Sylva insisted that the declarations of support for the governor by the former president and his wife, Patience Jonathan can never be a threat to his ambition of returning to Bayelsa government House.
He said: “ Well, frankly I am not worried. I always say that the former President was the President of Bayelsa state and he has proven me right. He has always been President of Bayelsa state, He was never President of Nigerian” he said in reaction to the open endorsement given to Dickson by the family of the former president at the Tuesday event.
