I am ready for EFCC – Toyin Saraki

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned the wife of the Senate president, Mrs Toyin Saraki over alleged involvement in money laundering.

The agency also invited the wife of the immediate past governor of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Dakingari for alleged involvement in N2billion fraud.

According to a highly placed source at the anti-graft agency, the Senate president’s wife is wanted in relation to questionable inflow of funds into companies where she has interests.

She is expected to report at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja next Tuesday, July 28, 2015 to face a crack team of investigators waiting to grill her.

Mrs Saraki’s invitation is coming just few weeks after her husband’s promise to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption in the country.

On her own part, Zainab, who is a daughter of late President Umaru Yar’Adua, was said to have perpetrated the alleged N2billion fraud through her private companies during her husband’s tenure as governor of Kebbi State.

She was initially expected to report for questioning at the commission’s headquarters yesterday, Wednesday, July 22 but the source further confided in LEADERSHIP that Mrs Dakingari earlier informed the agency that she was away to Saudi Arabia for the Lesser Hajj and pleaded to be allowed to report on Monday, July 27, 2015.

The EFCC has recently stepped up its anti-graft operations, apparently taking a cue from President Muhammadu Buhari’s stance on corruption.
