A
fire broke out on Friday at the plush "White House" home of President
Robert Mugabe's super-rich nephew - but miraculously his bed was untouched.
Photos
have emerged showing a badly gutted bedroom at the mansion of businessman
Philip Chiyangwa, 56, in Harare's Borrowdale suburb. But the bed in the corner,
complete with beautiful white linen and cushions, appears unscathed.
Chiyangwa's
daughter Vanessa told popular website youthvillage.co.zw: "Yes it is true,
the house is actually burning as we speak, I am coming from there right now and
can confirm the development. Fire brigade had arrived by the time I left."
The
official Herald newspaper said in an online update that Chiyangwa, who was seen
recently in a video ignoring police roadblocks, had "sustained
injuries".
Unconfirmed
reports say he may have been hurt by broken glass.
Chiyangwa's
white mansion, complete with helipad, is one of Harare's landmarks, second only
to Mugabe's pagoda style mansion in nearby Borrowdale Brooke suburb.
"Can
someone explain why that bed is intact?" tweeted journalist Nqaba
Matshazi.
