A man of Zimbabwe, was
arrested after raping his teenage daughter.
The man of Bulawayo, allegedly
raped his 15-year-old daughter and told her that it was the family tradition
for a father to sleep with his first-born child. The man, 36, was sleeping in
the girl’s bed when he committed the crime.
He appeared before Magistrate
Sibongile Msipa Marondedze after he was accused of rape.
The father pleaded
guilty and was remanded into custody without bail. Prosecutor Mufaro Mageza said
that the girl went to visit her father in Nketa. The child’s parents are
divorced.
The court heard that as she was sleeping during the third day of her
visit, her father came home drunk and went into her bedroom and raped her.
“After committing the crime, the father told his daughter that was their
culture because she is the first born,” Mageza said.
When the girl went back to
her mother, she told her about the sexual assault, and her mother reported the
matter to police, leading to the arrest of her former husband.
