Salik and Rabiat |
The love story of Salik H Alvi and Rabiat S Abubakar
For many sceptics like me, it was a rude
shock to actually meet a real life couple who met on social media.
Facebook is a popular free social networking website that allows
registered users to create profiles, upload photos and video, send messages and
keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues. The site, which is available
in 37 different languages, includes public features.
Face book which was originally designed as a dating site has
come to mean different things to different people. Asked how they met Rabiat
says..
'Thank you so much for this wonderful
effort sure I would love to share with you how we met and eventually got
married
I can’t remember the exact day just that I came
across one of his posts on Facebook in one group called "understanding
Islam " which he co-founded with Usman Bala Mohammed.
I said to myself ‘What a nice post and a great
idea’. I inboxed him and asked him to add me to the group, he sent me a friend request
and I accepted. thereafter he added me as a member to the group and even made
me an Admin as we kept working together for the achievements of the goals of
the group
As time went on we had chats about the group and even
other groups on Facebook; we discussed and shared a lots of ideas about Islam
and other facts of life.
We came to know and understand each other so
well and knew the fact that we had so much in common and even had same problems
in life.
Well we lived in different countries but the distance did not
make us feel so apart because we made phone calls to each other, sent messages
and even had video chats.
We were just friends and then we fall in love
I didn't believe him the first time he said I LOVE YOU
Believe me it took me a longtime to say I LOVE YOU TOO
To tell you the truth I tried to cut off him off as many times as
possible, but.......
The feelings became unbearable and it was not
something I could get rid of.
As time went on, he proposed to me and I agreed and he decided
to come to Nigeria after I sent him an invitation letter to apply for his visa
And lucky enough the embassy approved, he got the visa and he
came for the marriage.'
What a great story I asked about his
nationality and she said ‘Well he is Pakistan by birth but he is an American
citizen now, he lives in Baltimore MD’
I am a Nigerian Fulani by tribe I am living in Dutse Jigawa
State
On Salik’s part, this is what he had to say:
‘I thank the almighty Allah
for allowing me and Rabiat in getting to know each other so well trusting and
believing in one another without a single doubt despite the fact that I live in
America and she is in Nigeria. This is a miracle indeed. Despite our distance
we both found out that we are meant to be together. Just a small friendship
turned into love despite our distance. I thank Allah for giving me the
opportunity’
If you had any doubts that
True love could not be found on social media, here is your proof. we wish them
well in their union..
