Seventeen MTN Nigeria subscribers who are being sponsored by the
telecoms company to perform the 2013 hajj at the weekend departed for Saudi
Arabia.
Speaking at a farewell meeting
organized for the intending pilgrims, General Manager Customer Care, MTN
Nigeria Mrs. Fehintola Mustapha said the all expenses paid hajj initiative was
conceived by the telecom operator in 2009 as a way of rewarding its Muslims
subscribers.
According to her, the lucky customers were selected based on the volume of Islamic contents they loaded during the last Ramadan.
She noted that MTN also considered subscribers tenure on its network as part of criteria to qualify for winning the free hajj slot and to measure their loyalty to the operator.
Mustapha said the MTN sponsored pilgrims will all stay in a five star hotel in Saudi Arabia with ester code.
Mustapha further stated that the operator also has a similar initiative for its Christian subscribers.
