In a recent interview with Manny Pacquiao on Dateline Philippines at ANC, the eight-division world champion said in reference to his two successive defeats, that losing is part of the game.
Pacquiao, who is all set
to start his training in preparation for his fight against Brandon Rios at the
Venetian Resort in Macau, China on November 24, said that his loss to Juan
Manuel Marquez was just a lucky punch.
Pacquiao lost to the
Mexican counter puncher last Dec. 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada via
sixth round knockout.
During the fight,
Pacquiao was winning on judges scorecards until the last seconds of the sixth
round when Marquez caught Pacquiao with a power straight punch barely a second
before the end of the round.
Prior to his stunning
loss to Marquez, Pacquiao also lost to unbeaten Palm Springs star Timothy
Bradley last June 9 also at the MGM Grand.
Pacquiao's loss to
Bradley sparked worldwide protest from boxing fans who claimed that the judges
erred in scoring the fight.
The video of the
controversial bout was later reviewed by a panel of five seasoned judges and
all of them scored the fight in Pacquiao's favor.
In a few weeks, Pacquiao,
Rios and their entourage will embark on a six-city promotional tour that will
take place in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing the capital of China.
From China, the
entourage will fly to Singapore and then to the US where they will meet with
the press in New York and then to Los Angeles for the last leg of the press
tour.
There are reports that
Pacquiao has not indulged in boxing-related training since his loss to Marquez
but plays basketball almost everyday while Rios has started early training and physical
conditioning.
