A total of 29 senior police officers are among
about 200 officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) that have been
summoned to Abuja to face the Force disciplinary committee for various
offences.
According to the chairman of the committee, Deputy Inspector General of Police
(DIG) Mr. Suleiman Fakai senior police officers to face the committee between
the 8th and 12th of this month include four Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs)
of police, 17 Commissioners, two Deputy Commissioners and six Assistant
Commissioners of Police.
Mr Fakai explained that the affected officers have been queried at various
times and the committee has therefore invited them to Abuja to defend
themselves.
He announced that the committee will handle a total of 198 cases within the
next one week and any officer found culpable may be dismissed or suspended
depending on the gravity of the offence.
