The
‘mother’ of First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, has died in a road accident at
Elele, Rivers State, on her way to Bayelsa State.
Although
details of the crash were still sketchy as at press time, THISDAY gathered that
the remains of the woman, popularly called Sisi, was deposited at Kpaima
Mortuary, at Elechi Beach, Diobu, Port Harcourt.
The first lady was said to have adopted Sisi as a mother since
she lost hers at an early age.
The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Angela Agabe (DSP), could not confirm the incident when contacted.

She
said she was yet to learn of the incident and would only comment after
being properly informed about it.
But a
source close to the family told THISDAY that the woman died in the crash that
happened in at about 6pm Monday.
He
added that the first lady was away to Geneva and that she had been contacted on
the incident.
“The
first lady is shocked at the death of her ‘mother’ whom she saw hale and hearty
during her last visit just a few weeks ago when she came to bury her
grandfather,” he said.
When
THISDAY sought confirmation from the media aide of the first lady, Mr Ayo
Osinlu, who is with his principal in Geneva, he said: “Thanks for calling. But
I am sorry, I can’t make a comment now” asking THISDAY to contact one Mrs Ayo
Adesugba.
But all
efforts to reach the latter proved abortive while text message sent to her
mobile phone was not replied.
