He has had
more missteps than a novice rumba dancer of late but Justin Bieber's latest,
stepping on the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks' logo in their dressing
room, has been forgiven. The team sent out an official 'it's okay' press
release.
"As frequently
happens with guests into our room, Justin inadvertently stepped on the team
logo on the floor but moved off quickly once immediately reminded,"
Brandon Faber, senior director in the Hawks media and community relations
department wrote. "He was apologetic and understanding of the tradition
but continued to take photos with the Cup and some young fans. He was extremely
genuine and kind with his time. We appreciate his enthusiasm towards hockey and
wish him well with the remainder of his tour."
Justin Bieber and
Stanley Cup
Bieber had been invited
to spend time with the Stanley Cup in the Hawks dressing room by the Blackhawks
while in Chicago to play a July 9 concert on his 'Believe' tour at
the United Center. The team provided him with his own jersey, a number 6
Blackhawks road jersey with his name on the back.
Besides getting
criticism for stepping on the logo, it seems that many hockey fans were not
happy the Biebs even got to touch the Stanley Cup. A Canadian from the province of
Ontario, Bieber grew up playing hockey and said he was thrilled about getting
up close and personal with the Cup.
His favorite team is not
the Hawks, however, but the Toronto Maple Leafs.
