Bishops of various denominations yesterday converged on Abuja to pay solidarity
visit to President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2015 general election.
The leader of the
group, Bishop Kawaz, who is serving as the Director, Christian and Religious
Affairs of Goodluck Support Group made up of church leaders and Christian
traditional rulers, said they have decided to mobilise Nigerians to understand
the strides being made by the Federal Government under the transformation
agenda.
“We have taken this appointment very seriously and we have
kick-started, we have swung into action and began our mobilisation work
already. We are focusing on helping Nigerians to know the wonderful work of
President Jonathan and we are going from church to church, from crusade to
crusade and every Christian conventions across the country trying to galvanise
support and understanding of the people on the good works President Jonathan is
doing for the country.”
He listed huge investments in the education sector, the
transformation of the airports and revival of the rail transport as some of the
very visible efforts being made by the Federal Government to improve the life
of the people.
Earlier in his remark, traditional ruler of Ejezie Kingdom,
Chief Maxwell Kalu, said the traditional rulers are part of the mobilisation
and peace-building efforts of the government to try to re-unite the people
behind the present administration.
